Arts in the Dark is a family-friendly, magical nighttime Halloween parade that unites Chicago’s creative community and world-renowned institutions, such as the Art Institute, Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, the Shedd Aquarium, and the DuSable Museum of African American History.
Arts in the Dark begins at dusk and features live music, costumes, dance, giant puppets, unique floats, and much more! The parade is led by 8 “Illuminaries” – some of Chicago’s most influential creative leaders.
Arts in the Dark Schedule of Events:
- Parade (6 PM – 8 PM): Arts in the Dark Halloween Parade of Artists (State Street, moving south between Lake and Van Buren)
- Millennium Park After Party (7:30 PM – 9:30 PM): Visit Millennium Park for an immersive Halloween experience with live DJs, sideshow characters, stilt walkers and performance artists, a kids station, fortune tellers and magicians, video projections and more!
- Maggie Daley Park After Party (8 PM – 10 PM): Visit Maggie Daley Park immediately after the parade for trick or treating (until the candy runs out!), a showing of the movie Beetlejuice, late night Mini Golf, spooky games, prizes and more at the climbing wall and Skating Ribbon!
